19 Weeks

This is the first (recognizable) picture of our baby!! The first ultrasound pics make him (or her) look a bit like a Lima bean with a big head. I was there and have a hard time picking anything out of the picture. But this one seems very clear. Baby was laying on his back, with the head on the left side of the frame. Good thing we opted to not find out the sex - even if we had wanted to Little One did not cooperate. Despite poking, prodding and shifting, this one was not budging. Sorry Kai, looks like this one already has Daddy's stubborn streak.
As I mentioned, this is at 19 weeks. 20 weeks is the official halfway point, so we've about conquered half of this pregnancy thing!
The ultrasound doc said everything looked fabulous. I'm fine, Little One is fine - all is going smoothly. I have one small, very common problem - placenta previa. It just means my placenta is farther down than it should be. It's extremely common and should go away on it's own in the next 10 weeks. We have a third ultrasound scheduled for then to make sure things have shifted as they need to.

Dude, You Gotta HELP ME!

s
Seems to be Mickey's plea in this photo. Yesterday was a beautiful, warm, gorgeous Seattle day so we spent most of it outside. (Dan has the sunburned head to prove it!) Dan worked on the wall and I gave Mickey a much needed haircut. It took a couple of hours to get through all Mickey's fur, and Dan was impressed that that much fur could come off of such a small dog.

Life has finally returned to what passes for normal around here. Most of the wedding things are cleaned up and put away, the dogs have calmed down (except Turtle - she's just excited about life).

It was raining most of today, so we spent the day wandering Ikea (everything else was closed.) We picked up a few things, and got some great ideas for decorating the baby's room. We had our 1/2 way point ultrasound on Friday and things are looking great. I'll post more about that soon - including a great profile shot of our new little person!

The New Mrs.

It's official - we got hitched on Saturday! It was amazing, wonderful, beautiful, and very special. We missed some of our STL friends, but were thrilled with how many came to celebrate with us.

The location was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I loved it. There were about 10,000 pictures and two video cameras running from two different angles (gotta love marrying a techno geek). We'll have tons of pics to share soon!

Guess We're Getting Married!

We took a final run to Leavenworth yesterday. Outside of having to get up at 5:00am, the day was spectacular. The sun was out, the skies were blue and it was a perfect Pacific Northwest day.

The roads going to Leavenworth were fine. The snow is still 5-10 feet deep in many places up in the mountains, but it was less than a foot at the resort.
We also took care of all our paperwork - registered for our marriage license and picked up our liquor license.
Guess this makes it official!

Japanese Garden

Sunday was the season opening of the Japanese Garden in the Arboretum. They had the Japanese Consular General there to give a speech, then a traditional Japanese blessing ceremony. It was interesting, although very long and slightly boring. The sound system was awful and it was tough to hear anything. I think it would have been much more enjoyable if we could have heard what was being said.

After the ceremony they had taiko drummers perform. That was amazing! I really enjoyed that part of the event. Here's a quick video of the drumming.
